What is the difference between SRT and ASS?

SRT (SubRip) is a plain-text format with just numbered cues and timecodes — no styling. ASS / SSA (Advanced SubStation Alpha) adds rich styling: fonts, colors, outlines, positioning and karaoke effects, defined in a [V4+ Styles] section. Converting SRT to ASS gives you a styled starting point you can customize.

Will my subtitles be styled automatically?

The tool applies a clean Default style (white text, thin outline, bottom-centered) so the file is valid and readable immediately. ASS styling is subjective, so the converter gives you a neutral base to restyle in an editor like Aegisub rather than guessing fonts and colors for you.

Is the converted .ass file compatible with Aegisub?

Yes. The output is a standard ASS v4+ document with a [Script Info], [V4+ Styles] and [Events] section, so it opens directly in Aegisub and in players like VLC, MPV and PotPlayer that support ASS/SSA.
